Privacy Policy
Last updated: July 26, 2026
Born4Tennis ("we", "the app") is committed to protecting your privacy and personal data, in accordance with the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) and the recommendations of the CNIL (French data protection authority).
This English version is a courtesy translation. In case of discrepancy, the French version prevails.
1.Data controller
The data controller is Herman Hinojosa, sole trader (trade name Hhino), 6 Allée du Pigeonnier, 31770 Colomiers, France (full details in the Legal notice). For anything related to your data: hello@born4tennis.com.
2.Data we collect
To operate, the app collects:
- Identification data: first name, last name, email address, date of birth.
- Profile data: photo, tennis level, playing style, equipment, bio, availability.
- Location data (with your explicit consent, see section 4): your GPS position to show you nearby players.
- Usage data: matches played, messages sent, active sessions.
3.Why we collect this data
We use your data to:
- Connect you with other players near you (see section 4)
- Personalise your experience (recommendations, B4T Rating)
- Verify the minimum age of 16 (see section 9)
- Ensure platform safety (moderation, abuse prevention)
4.Geolocation (GPS)
Legal basis: your explicit consent (art. 6.1.a GDPR). It is requested separately when you enable the feature (accepting the Terms of Service does not activate it), and you can withdraw it at any time without affecting the rest of the app.
Purpose: show you players near you and let you arrange matches with them. Your position is used for nothing else: no advertising, no profiling, never sold.
What we store: the app does not store your exact position. Only an approximate position (~1 km precision) is kept: the last known one, overwritten each time it refreshes, with no history of your movements.
When it updates: your position refreshes when you open the app or come back to it, never in the background.
What other players see: only an approximate distance, rounded to 0.1 km. Your position is never displayed on a map, as an address or as coordinates.
How long: your position is kept only while location sharing is on. It is deleted immediately, not just hidden, when you switch it off, revoke the system permission, or delete your account.
Withdrawing consent: in the app, side menu → Settings → Privacy → GPS location (switch off). You can also revoke the location permission in your phone's system settings (iOS / Android): the app detects it and deletes your stored position the same way.
Without GPS: the app keeps working in degraded mode: you won't see nearby players by distance, everything else works.
5.Data retention
Your data is kept as long as your account is active. If you request account deletion, all personal data is erased within 30 days, except where legal obligations apply (security logs kept for 12 months). Your GPS position follows the stricter rule of section 4: immediate deletion.
6.Sharing with third parties
We share some technical data with:
- Supabase (database hosting and authentication, European Union)
- Google Maps (only to display the nearby players map, no identity is transmitted)
- Resend (transactional email delivery only)
We never sell your data. No targeted advertising is served.
7.Transfers outside the European Union
The app's data (accounts, profiles, positions, messages) is stored in the European Union (Supabase). Some providers process data in the United States, under the transfer mechanisms recognised by the GDPR (art. 45 and 46):
- Cloudflare, Inc. (hosting of this website): certified under the EU-U.S. Data Privacy Framework; its data processing addendum also incorporates the European Commission's Standard Contractual Clauses.
- Google LLC (Google Maps): certified under the EU-U.S. Data Privacy Framework.
- Resend (transactional email): transfer governed by the Standard Contractual Clauses incorporated in its data processing addendum.
8.Your GDPR rights
Under GDPR, you have the following rights:
- Right of access: request a copy of your data
- Right of rectification: correct your information
- Right to erasure: delete your account and data ("right to be forgotten")
- Right to portability: receive your data in a readable format
- Right to object: object to certain processing
- Right to restriction: limit the processing of your data
To exercise these rights, contact us at: hello@born4tennis.com
9.Minors
Born4Tennis is reserved for players aged 16 or over. Age is verified at sign-up from your date of birth, and the registration form does not accept younger ones. Since 16 is above the French digital-consent threshold (15), no parental-consent flow applies: under-16 accounts are simply not allowed, and any detected are deleted.
10.Cookies and trackers
The app only uses cookies necessary for operation (authentication, preferences). Analytics and marketing cookies require your explicit consent (manageable in Settings → Privacy → Manage cookies).
11.Complaints to the CNIL
If you feel your rights are not respected, you can lodge a complaint with the CNIL (French data protection authority): www.cnil.fr
